This subclass 400 Australian Visa enables employers to sponsor a skilled worker with highly specialised work for a period up to 6 months. For a stay period longer than 3 months, a strong business case must be provided with the application. The stay period starts when the visa holder arrives in Australia.

Subclass 400 Visa Australia Highly Specialised Work Stream

You can apply for the 400 subclass visa if you have specialised skills, knowledge or experience that can assist an Australian business who can not reasonably find the skilled worker to do that task in the Australian labour market. This work must be non-ongoing. Non-ongoing work means work that is likely to be completed within 6 months or less and you are not expected to stay in Australia after this time for any reason related to that particular work. The nominating business in Australia will need to show that they have tried to find Australian workers to the work first, as this can not be granted if it affects employment or training opportunities for Australian citizens or permanent residents.

Subclass 400 Visa Australia Work is Not in the Australian Entertainment Industry

While on subclass 400 visa you can produce, direct, or have any other role in a production that will not be shown in Australia, can come to Australia for promotional activities such as an actor visiting Australia for a red carpet premiere, a rock band in Australia for a promotional tour but no performances.

On this 400 visa you can not perform as an entertainer in Australia or support an entertainer or group of entertainers performing in Australia, produce, direct, or take any other part in a production that will be shown, broadcast or performed in Australia.
